Private and small group guided tours
Special private tour
Just you and our expert guide and photographer
All about the THE CASTELLO DISTRICT IN VENICE – special private tour.
The Venice I want to show you is the one faraway from the droves of tourists. It is the Venice that I live every day, together with the many people that, like you, admire places that smell of history. My suggestion is to observe these places with calm, listening and imaging the many legends that for centuries have been narrated through those alleys. Throughout the whole itinerary we will find interesting subjects to portray at any corner: hidden places full of charm, quiet channels and buildings of which every detail seems to be there for us to focus and shoot. I will be by your side all along, to suggest how to focus on something you see, or to teach you how to obtain a wonderful picture with the best framing.
My photo tours are on-demand too, so if you want to discover some corner of Venice in particular, don’t hesitate to ask me; I will prepare the perfect itinerary for you.
The photo tour includes the workshop with the master photographer.
For small group: we can adapt the itinerary based on the ages, needs, and interests of travelers in your group.
Best Season: All year long.
Step 1 – Castello District
Strolling around this district will allow you to pass through bridges that offer interesting views on some canals and on the Island of San Giorgio Maggiore. The several opportunities provided by these calli, will allow you to experiment with low light techniques and slow shutter shots, with the moving waters in front and the city’s skyline on the background.
Step 2 – Chiesa dei Greci
Belonging to the Hellenic Institute, Saint George of the Greeks was built in 1536 respecting the architectonic canons of late Renaissance period. It is now a splendid example of architecture, especially thanks to its landing tower bell and the quiet garden; it is also a proof of the historic importance and presence of the Greeks in this territory.
Step 3 – Chiesa di Ss. Giovanni e Paolo
This medieval church is one of the largest in the city of Venice and it is considered a kind of Pantheon due to the number of important people that have been buried here. The origins of this basilica dates back to 1230 and are related to an interesting legend.
Step 4 – Water Channels
Quiet or busy, these iconic waterways are the emblem of Venice. Shoot them at any moment of the day to see how they change taking advantage of the many opportunities offered by the reflections on their surface.
Step 5 – Alleys
Other emblematic element of Venice, these peculiar narrow streets are a perfect subject to portray with your camera, above all when illuminated by the yellow, warm lights of the street lamps.
