Their intrinsic beauty derives from a variety of spectacular vertical forms such as pinnacles, spires and towers, with contrasting horizontal surfaces including ledges, crags and plateaux, all of which rise abruptly above extensive talus deposits and more gentle foothills. A great diversity of colours is provided by the contrasts between the bare pale-coloured rock surfaces and the forests and meadows below. The mountains rise as peaks with intervening ravines, in some places standing isolated but in others forming sweeping panoramas. Some of the rock cliffs here rise more than 1,500 m and are among the highest limestone walls found anywhere in the world. The distinctive scenery of the Dolomites has become the archetype of a ‘dolomitic landscape’. Geologist pioneers were the first to be captured by the beauty of the mountains, and their writing and subsequent painting and photography further underline the aesthetic appeal of the property. Completely surrounded by the Dolomite mountains, Corvara is located at the southern end of the Val Badia valley. The valley, which boasts the towns of Corvara, Colfosco, La Villa, San Cassiano, Badia and La Val, is characterised by a contrasting landscape of hilly meadows and striking Dolomite rock formations. The area is a destination for sport lovers as well as connoisseurs. For decades, Alta Badia has been the gourmet capital of the Dolomites. The area features the glow of no fewer than six Michelin stars and offers a unique density of quality hotels and restaurants in Europe. During the summer months, active holidaymakers, as well as locals, ascend the numerous peaks, which line the adjoining Fanes-Senes-Braies and Puez-Odle nature parks, to enjoy hiking and mountain biking. The spectacular views of the Dolomites are a constant and unique companion.[/vc_column_text][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_gallery interval=”3″ images=”5878,5934,4616,4219,5979,5978,5960,5935″ img_size=”400×250″ onclick=”img_link_large” custom_links_target=”_blank” title=”Alta Badia and surrounding “][/vc_column][/vc_row][vc_row gap=”35″ disable_element=”yes” css=”.vc_custom_1551462100241{margin-top: -10% !important;margin-bottom: -30px !important;}”][vc_column width=”1/2″ css=”.vc_custom_1513518033343{padding-right: 10% !important;}”][vc_gallery interval=”3″ images=”5717,5718,5932,5930,5989,5990,5991,5993,5995,5996,5998,5999,6000″ img_size=”400×250″ title=”Alta Pusteria and surrounding “][/vc_column][vc_column width=”1/2″][vc_custom_heading text=”Sesto – Alta Pusteria” font_container=”tag:h2|font_size:20pt|text_align:center” use_theme_fonts=”yes”][vc_column_text]Sesto stands at the entrance to the Drei Zinnen/Tre Cime Nature Park, part of the Dolomites, a UNESCO world heritage site.
