When did you start with photography? Where does this passion come from?
Photography started for me with my introduction to Instagram and that is also what eventually created the passion for photography. It went from an experiment, to loving the connections online, to a hobby, and then into something I can not live without. Starting with an iPhone 3GS, to a newer Iphone, then a point and shoot camera, which turned into a Nikon D5100, after 6 months I upgraded that to a D5300 where now I shoot with a Nikon D850 and a Leica TL2.
Where do you come from? Has this place been your first photographic subject?
I’m born and raised in Amsterdam, The Netherlands. I started taking photos using my old iPhone 3GS back when Instagram just got released and instantly the interest in seeing Amsterdam on the platform was pretty big, therefor my first subjects couldn’t have been anything else than Amsterdam.
What should photography communicate according to you?
I’d say photography is art, so to me it communicates a story, and a story that is something different to whoever looks at the photo. It should tell the vision of the photographer at that specific moment in time which he / she captured. How to interpret that moment, is fully up to the person looking at the photo.
Why is so important to capture photographs while travelling according to you?
Photography makes me look at things different and way more focused. Next to that it allows me to capture a moment in time to look back at, which otherwise would be lost forever. It’s an everlasting memory I am able to share with everyone around me.
Have you ever been to South Tyrol and what do you associate with this region?
Never. So I’m very much looking forward to seeing the area and capturing it all on camera.
