1 destination: Dolomites – South Tyrol
4 days event: 30.01 – 02.02.2020
5 influential master photographers
1 contest for the SUSTAINABILITY Awards of Travel Photography
A four day event in South Tyrol, from 30th of January to 2nd of February 2020, bringing together 5 influential master photographers to capture on camera the stunning landscapes of the Dolomites. Among mountains, stars, nature, food, traditions and a lot of snow! In this first WINTER EDITION the photographers will shoot and show their pictures on their social media spaces, to help you discover more about the photographic opportunities hidden in this area.
This edition wants to tell stories of the territory that have as their starting point the theme of “slow”, of eco-sustainability, of living the winter in an alternative way, far from the crowd. A vision that gives the possibility to man to find inner peace, the appreciation of slowness and small things. The message to convey is the possibility that experience lived in this way can give a sense of well-being, satisfaction, harmony and serenity. Many elements in the program refer to a model of tourism sustainable, nature friendly and respectful for the local community: transport, materials (e.g. building materials or wool-based clothing), food produced as much as possible by regional farmers, characteristic home environments for the inhabitants of the Dolomites; as well activities in nature, between the blue sky and the white snow: snowshoes, sledding, horses, fire lights walks….
THE LOCATION
Alta Badia and the Dolomites
The Dolomites are widely regarded as one of the most stunning mountain landscapes in the world, and in 2009, the World Heritage Committee officially designated the Dolomite Mountains as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Comprising over 90,000 acres of mountainous terrain, these mountains are a unique corner of the Alps, featuring distinctive geology and a fascinating blend of cultures.
The Ladin language and culture in South Tyrol have deep roots in the Val Badia valley. Surrounded by the Dolomite mountains, Alta Badia is located at the southern end of the Val Badia valley. The valley, which boasts the towns of Corvara, Colfosco, LaVilla, San Cassiano, Badia and La Val. The area is characterised by a contrasting landscape of hilly meadows and striking Dolomite rock formations.
HIGHLIGHTS OF THE EVENT
What will we capture with our cameras?
We ask Creatives to tell stories that have characters/protagonists within them, that are not simply beautiful images but that are related to man and daily life that can also be experienced by those who come from London or Prague maybe just for a week. For this edition, we will give importance to the realization of videos and small trailers, with images that follow one another thanks to a common thread and create a story in this way.
Photographic sessions at dusk and dawn, shooting the most panoramic points of the area along with the typical regional food traditions, will provide our photographers with an interesting and challenging task.
