Name: Mattia Bonavida
City: Lake Garda, Italy
Camera: A full frame body, a Nikon D800E
Main photographic subject: My favourite subjects are mainly landscapes and nature shots, but I like also to take some portrait or sport photography, I’m always looking for new photographic fields to explore.
Style: I try to use colours to create emotions in each of my shot. I also love to put a human figure inside my pictures to give a sense of contrast between the environment and the person in the foreground.
Favorite destinations: At the moment I would like so much to visit Faroe Islands, because it’s a remote place with a lot of possibilities to catch awesome landscape in an untouched scenario.
Influences: I followed some great photographers like Max Rive, that was and it’s one of the most awesome landscape photographers, I was impressed by the use of colours in every shot and obviously the amazing location where he was taking his photos.

When did you start with photography?
I Started taking photos four years ago, with a simple smartphone then I bought my first DSLR a Nikon D7000.
Where does this passion come from?
I have been always fascinated by photography I loved to impress an emotion with a shot, at the beginning every time that I went on the mountains I brought my camera with me, and loving nature is even easier to catch a great landscape even from the simplest things.
What do you look for in photography?
Every time I try to capture a scene rich in contrast with a sense of wilderness and adventure.
When shooting landscape it is really important to wait until the perfect light and moment so you have to be very patient.
What does photography mean to you?
Photography for me is a way to live moments, capture emotions and not to forget the most important experience in my life.
What should photography communicate according to you?
According to me photography should transmit the feelings of the photographer at the moment of the shooting doesn’t matter how.
Do you conceive photography as an instinctive or a more planned activity?
For me photography is something really instinctive, I love to wait and capture the moment just in the way it comes, rarely I managed to realize some photographic projects.
