“Florence’s is a subtle beauty—its staid, unprepossessing palaces built in local stone are not showy, even though they are very large. They take on a certain magnificence when day breaks and when the sun sets; their muted colors glow in this light.” – Fodor’s

Friday – Photography in Florence
Many writers and directors wrote something about this city and its beauties, or decided to set their works among the medieval alleys, courtyards and squares of Florence: Dante, Petrarch, Boccaccio, Zeffirelli, De Palma, Ivory, Scott, Fellini and Brown, just to name a few. Indeed, art and culture developed here in such a superb way that the concrete expressions of this exceptional heritage are considered a testimony to the glorious civilization and importance of the city in the past; a time that is by no means gone, but that is reflected in the unique culture that permeates the city, not only in its artistic elements. Matteo will bring you in one of the most famous Caffè Letterari (literary cafés), a tradition of the XX century, that still peps up the cultural landscape of Florence.
Saturday in Val d’Orcia
On Friday evening photographers will agree with the Master about time departure. Saturday will be dedicated to visiting Val d’Orcia. Usually, we propose to shoot both sunrise on the way to Siena and sunset at Podere Belvedere or San Quirico d’Orcia. The order of stopovers could change because of the year season.
The magnificent natural scenery of the Val d’Orcia that extends through the Tuscan hills was inserted onto the UNESCO World Heritage List in 2004.
“Val d’Orcia fuses art, landscape and ecosystem in one geographical space, and is the expression of a series of marvelous natural characteristics. It is also the result of and testament to the people that have long-inhabited it. In fact, according to UNESCO this Valley is an exceptional exemplar of the way in which a natural setting was redesigned during the Renaissance (14th-15th Centuries), reflecting the ideals of good governance in the Italian City-State. Additionally, these splendid localities were celebrated by the painters of the Sienese School, which flourished between the 13th and 15th Centuries.” Italia.it
